Everything You Need to Know About Our English Program
At Vsuccess Education, we’re committed to the quality of every minute of every lesson—so each child achieves the maximum learning success here.
English Program (Years 1–9)
Many primary and lower-secondary students can “read” a text but still struggle to analyse meaning, organise ideas, express viewpoints clearly, or write convincingly. Our program uses explicit teaching + guided practice + high-impact routines to help students bridge this gap.
Background
In the early years, learning focuses on phonics and decoding. As texts become longer and more complex, students must develop skills such as inference, author’s purpose, and evaluation, as well as clear written expression. Our courses strengthen these foundations and build the habits needed for sustained reading and writing success.
Year Levels
Years 1–3: Systematic phonics, spelling, core vocabulary, and basic sentence patterns
Years 4–6: Faster reading comprehension, applied grammar, paragraphing and text structure
Years 7–9: Critical analysis of texts, multi-genre writing, and exam writing techniques
Core Skill Development
Reading Comprehension: Locate key information, infer author intent, evaluate ideas and arguments
Vocabulary & Grammar: Word families, parts of speech and function, more precise expression
Writing Across Genres: Narrative, persuasive, informative/expository; text comparison with clear essay frames
Thinking Skills: Summarising and synthesising, evidence-based reasoning, fully aligned with the Australian/Victorian Curriculum
