Mathematics, Years 1–12.
Written and taught in-house.
Our Primary and Secondary Mathematics programs are authored by our own teachers, aligned to the Australian Curriculum and enriched with Asian-style problem solving. We focus on concepts, worked examples, and the reasoning that turns content knowledge into exam-ready fluency.
Primary Maths
A structured optimisation of school-level maths — building concepts, fluency, problem-solving and reasoning together so children move into secondary maths with a real foundation.
Background
Western classrooms often favour learning through play. A 50-minute period can spend most of its time on games, with brief structured practice before and after. Children also sit fewer assessments — feedback arrives twice a year at parent–teacher meetings, supplemented by NAPLAN. Students benefit from more frequent checkpoints to understand their strengths, identify gaps, and build exam confidence early.
Program Features
We break the curriculum's three strands — Number & Algebra, Measurement & Geometry, and Statistics & Probability — into 15–17 structured units per year. Step-by-step progression and varied question types teach students to transfer knowledge, recognise patterns, and apply skills flexibly.
Schedule
- Frequency: Once per week, 2 hours per lesson
- Assessment: Mid-term and end-of-term tests for each course
- Terms: Follow Victorian school term dates
Secondary Maths
After Primary, students have a solid grasp of basic operations and introductory algebra. In Secondary we strengthen textbook knowledge and build the independent study skills, analytical thinking, and abstract reasoning needed through VCE.
Background
Primary years focus on literacy and numeracy. In secondary school the load expands — Science, Humanities, Arts and PE all compete for attention alongside English and Maths. Students must learn the content and learn how to learn efficiently.
Program Features
For each topic, teachers scaffold learning with clear modelling, guided practice and targeted drills to consolidate knowledge and lift results. We train students to use multiple problem-solving strategies and mathematical reasoning so they can tackle unfamiliar questions — studying effectively and efficiently through senior years and into VCE.
Schedule
- Frequency: Once per week, 1.5–2 hours per lesson (depending on class level)
- Assessment: Weekly quizzes plus mid-term and end-of-term tests
- Terms: Follow Victorian school term dates
Four strands, in every chapter.
Our Core Mathematics textbooks organise every chapter into the same four strands, so students get balanced practice across all areas of maths.
Understanding
Build a clear mental model of each concept before applying it.
Fluency
Practise until calculation and notation become automatic.
Problem-Solving
Apply strategies across varied question types and contexts.
Reasoning
Justify steps, explain choices, and construct mathematical argument.
The Core Mathematics series.
Twelve volumes covering Years 1–7 and three levels of Accelerate Mathematics — authored by our teachers and updated every year.
